- The Australian Championship, Major and Minor tournaments are all to be 11 rounds

- All moves in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds a move from the start

- With certain exceptions, the Australian Championship is restricted to Australian residents rated 2100 ACF and higher

- The Australian Major is restricted to players rated under 2100 and unrated players who are not eligible for the Australian Championship under section 9 or 10 of By-law 1

- The Australian Minor is restricted to players rated under 1600

- The Senior prize and title is restricted to players aged 60 and over at 1 January 2008

- Free entry for GM, IM, WGM and WIMs if entered by 9th December 2007

- Players are eligible for one prize only
